Feedback from Phonological Awareness observation of my practise by Lynne Keesing -RTLit
Hi Andrea
It was so great to see all the children engaged & how well they responded to each of the activities.
Your lesson was a good mix of short multi-sensory activities, which is very important in keeping the children focused & interested.
Next steps for some of your more able students would be to use their existing knowledge & extend this by presenting a slightly more difficult task based on the same activity. For example, Alisdair & your new little girl were able to locate their partners immediately (& sat so patiently until it was their turn!), so maybe an extension for each of them after finding their rhyming partner could be to say you 2 or more words, that rhymed with their own & partners words.
I think sometimes we get so focused on supporting the less able students that we forget to present the others with a little more of a challenge!
I am also thrilled that you have found a few minutes to timetable phonological awareness into your busy day - thank you for being very willing & enthusiastic in trying out new ideas that are presented to you.
Kind regards
Lynne
