Junior School Camp 2016

July 2013

Creating a mural to depict our school as a Taonga

We were challenged to come up with an activity for the children that would be creative and foster resilience and problem solving. Our creation activity. We stood back and let the children work out their ideas and solve problems. We gave no assistance and provided no modelling.

Language Experiences are important for encouraging children to take part, problem solve and develop independence and confidence.  Also great for providing shared experiences that provide language within a context that can be referred back to. And at the end of the day, they are great fun! Here's one we did this year. Our class bear was turning 21 so we decided to throw him a birthday party. The children organised the party  - food, games, invitations, card and decorations. As you can imagine, our bear was very happy!
